Story Beginning Lennox Masonry began while Sean Lennox was still apprenticing under one of the most widely sought after and respected stonemasons in the Lower Mainland. Sean would take on weekend side-projects to refine his skills and inevitably learn how to run a masonry business. Being exposed to traditional stonework, stone sculpting, the restoration of heritage buildings, and a plethora of unique stonemasonry projects, prepared Sean to take his vast knowledge and expertise, and officially begin what is now Lennox Masonry Ltd. And after 14 years of apprenticing, that is precisely what he did. Sean worked by himself, designing and building brick and stone structures for over a decade before relocating to Victoria, BC . The move was inspired by a necessity to slow down and get away from the fast pace of the Lower Mainland. There was also a multitude of opportunities that were present on Vancouver Island for heritage restoration of masonry structures. Victoria, BC Years after relocating to Victoria, BC, Lennox Masonry has remained a small company with just a handful of highly skilled and competent stonemasons and bricklayers. From heritage restoration of brick and stone structures, to repairing and building stone retaining walls and brick chimneys, Lennox Masonry has established itself as a highly reputable and respected masonry company. The team at Lennox Masonry specializes in building outdoor living spaces in Victoria BC, including stone walls, pillars, and walkways. Let us transform your yard! Mill Bay Rd. River Rock Pillars & Walls Vision This project in Mill Bay, BC consisted of designing and building stone pillars and retaining walls out of locally sourced river rocks. Small stone arches and cavities were built into the pillars to add some depth and to make room for interior lighting. The walls and pillars were then capped with Pacific Blue Sandstone which was quarried by BC Marble Prodcuts Ltd. The large address sign was also quarried and cut by BC Marble Products prior to the address being carved and labelled in place. The stonework was then sealed to bring out all of the colors inherent in the stone itself which really made the entire project come to life. Lennox Masonry designs and builds outdoor living spaces in Victoria BC through our team of skilled stonemasons, such as flagstone patios and retaining walls. Sea Drive Flagstone Patio & Stone Retaining Wall Story This backyard renovation consisted of digging out and grading a 500 square foot section overlooking the Saanich inlet. Lennox Masonry was then tasked with pouring a concrete foundation in order to properly adhere locally quarried Juan De Fuca flagstones. As well as construct a short retaining wall for aesthetics with ample drainage installed throughout the property. We had the pleasure of creating a unique stone feature which was encased within the retaining wall for our wonderful clients. The feature consisted of locally gathered rocks, driftwood, moss, lichen, and a cedar frame.

Stone Retaining Walls Dry-Stone Walling Dry stone walling, or, dry stacking, is an ancient method of building stone walls without the use of mortar. Stones are placed in an interlocking method in order to ensure stability and proper function. The following gallery consists of a project Lennox Masonry completed in Saanichton, Victoria BC. These stone stairs and retaining walls were built out of blast rock, which is noted to be the most challenging stone to work with when building dry stacked walls. Dry stone walls can prove to be less maintenance in the long run as opposed to mortared stone retaining walls. However, this method of retaining soil is not recommended if the wall is exceeding 4' in height.
